JOHNNIE MERIE (IRE)

Johnnie Merle is a Thoroughbred mare bred by Bernard Cooke in Ireland and foaled on April 17, 2017. She boasts an elegant black coat and is the offspring of Invincible Spirit (IRE) from Nawara Stud Co Ltd and Pretty Face (GB) from Juddmonte Farms Ltd, who is sired by Rainbow Quest. Invincible Spirit foaled on 17 February 1997, is an Irish-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and proven producer that has commanded a stud fee of about 120,000 euros. In 2001, he achieved two victories, one of which was his first Group race win in the MacDonagh Boland Stakes. He won the Duke of York Stakes in 2002, and the Group 1 Haydock Sprint Cup at the end of that year. Following his retirement from racing, he has emerged as one of Ireland’s prominent stallions, siring notable progeny such as Fleeting Spirit, Kingman, Charm Spirit, Lawman, Mayson and Moonlight Cloud. Invincible Spirit was trained by John Dunlop and owned by Prince A. A. Faisal. Like Luck be a Lily, Invincible Spirit’s grandsire is Danzig, a leading sire of sires.

Throughout her racing career, Johnnie Merle has participated in four races, out of which she clinched a third-place finish in one. Notable racetracks where she has competed include Delaware Park, Saratoga, and Fair Grounds.
Johnnie Merle herself was sold for over $262,000 at auction as a weanling and for over $233,000 at auction as a yearling
