BUCEPHALUS TOUCH

Bucephalus Touch, a dark bay stallion foaled in 2021, brings together an exceptional genetic combination from Carpe Diem, Maria’s Mon, and Seattle Slew.

His sire, Carpe Diem, captured the Blue Grass Stakes (G1) and Tampa Bay Derby (G2). A son of Giant’s Causeway, the “Iron Horse” of European racing, Carpe Diem has consistently transmitted durability, brilliance, and balance to his progeny.

On the dam side, Bucephalus Touch is out of Classy Touch, a mare by Maria’s Mon, the sire of Kentucky Derby winner Monarchos. Classy Touch’s lineage also traces directly to Seattle Slew, the undefeated Triple Crown champion and one of the most influential stallions in modern history.

Key Achievements of Bucephalus Touch’s Pedigree:

Carpe Diem (Sire):

  • Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (G1) – 1st place (2015)
  • Tampa Bay Derby (G2) – 1st place (2015)
  • Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity (G1) – 1st place (2014)
  • Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) – 2nd place (2014)
  • Kentucky Derby (G1) – 10th place (2015)

Carpe Diem showed his talent across multiple top-level races, capturing major victories and establishing himself as one of the top colts of his generation. His pedigree, being by Giant’s Causeway, gives him the stamina for classic races, while his success as a sire shows his ability to pass on those traits.

Classy Touch (Dam):

Classy Touch’s career was cut short by injury, but still highlighted by key performances. Her pedigree, being by Maria’s Mon, strengthens the bloodlines for stamina and classic potential. She is the product of Flute, a Grade 1 winning filly with an outstanding pedigree. Classy Touch herself was sold for over $300,000 at auction and is out of Flute, a celebrated winner of the Kentucky Oaks, and sired by the legendary Triple Crown winner Seattle Slew.

Flute (Granddam):

  • Kentucky Oaks (G1) – 1st place (2001) – 106 Beyer Speed Figure
  • Alabama Stakes (G1) – 1st place (2001) – 107 Beyer Speed Figure
  • Beldame Stakes (G1) – 2nd place (2001) – 114 Beyer Speed Figure
  • Santa Anita Oaks (G1) – 2nd place (2001) – 109 Beyer Speed Figure
  • Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) – 7th place (2001) – 97 Beyer Speed Figure

Flute was one of the top fillies of her generation, with multiple Grade 1 victories, including the Kentucky Oaks and Alabama Stakes. Her pedigree is strengthened by being by Seattle Slew, one of the greatest racehorses of all time, who won the Triple Crown in 1977 and passed on his exceptional stamina and racing ability to his progeny.

Maria’s Mon (Broodmare Sire):

  • Moet Champagne Stakes (G1) – 1st place (1995) – 112 Beyer Speed Figure
  • Futurity Stakes (G1) – 1st place (1995) – 111 Beyer Speed Figure
  • Sanford Stakes (G3) – 1st place (1995) – 99 Beyer Speed Figure
  • Jim Dandy Stakes (G2) – 6th place (1996) – 76 Beyer Speed Figure

Maria’s Mon was a top-class racehorse and a reliable sire. He produced Monarchos, the Kentucky Derby winner in 2001, further solidifying his reputation as a sire of classic performers.

This pedigree brings together the brilliance of Carpe Diem, the classic stamina of Maria’s Mon, and the indelible influence of Seattle Slew, making Bucephalus Touch a uniquely valuable addition to our breeding program.

An athletic and intelligent colt from the start, Bucephalus Touch showed great promise in early training. Unfortunately, a lesion limited his ability to race at full capacity. While this curtailed his accomplishments on the track, his conformation, athleticism, and presence reflect the quality of his bloodlines and the potential he carries as a sire.
